About College

Late Digambarrao Bindu Smarak Samiti’s Digambarrao Bindu ACS College, Bhokar was established in 1989 by our visionary founding father freedom fighter and social worker honorable Late. Bhujangrao Patil Kinhalkar. He named it by the name of his ideal colleague and senior freedom fighter Late Digambarrao Bindu. Since then, the college has been operating with high ideals and imparting quality education. The college has played a key role in spreading education in the rural and backward surroundings. Under the able leadership of our present president honorable Dr. Madhavrao Patil Kinhalkar (Former Minister of the state of Maharashtra) the college has progressed considerably in both infrastructure related and academic aspects. His experience as an administrator and his developmental vision has been the source of inspiration for us. Our vision is to provide value-based education and generate human resources equipped with advanced skills. Our mission is to make the students aware about the career opportunities available through the programmes offered, to refine personalities of students with a positive approach, to reach to students in the area who are eligible but deprived of Higher Education, to create environmental and social awareness by giving exposure to students with various activities. The goal is to provide quality education by offering skill-based courses. 

In 2011-12 we added science faculty to the previous arts and commerce faculties. Now we also run P. G. department in commerce. We also have Buddha Study Centre, Nehru Study Centre, Gandhi Study Centre. We have run several vocational courses under various UGC schemes from time to time. Besides the curricular activities, the college has always participated actively in various co-curricular, extra-curricular, and sports activities. We have a well-equipped department with indoor and outdoor games facilities. Our NSS department has consistently contributed to the service of the nation. The Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (SRTMU) has awarded Best College Magazine Award to the annual magazine of the college ‘Vedan’ since 2009 consecutively. The college was rewarded with the Best Examination Center Award by the University in 2013-14. The government of Maharashtra has awarded a cash prize of Two Lakh rupees to the college for contribution of our NSS department in BEST practices for women empowerment under the Maharashtra government campaign ‘Jagar Janivancha’ in 2013-14, and a prize of twenty-five thousand rupees for the similar activity in the year 2012-13. College has received overall Grade “A’ with 80.51 percentiles in Academic and Administrative Audit in January 2020 by the Academic council of the S.R.T.M. University, Nanded on the recommendation of duly constituted committee as per the Maharashtra public university act 2016. The college was re-accredited with ‘B++’ Grade with CGPA 2.87 by NAAC in third cycle recently in the 2023.   We have been honored by the Best Principal Award by the SRTM University in the year 2017-18. In 2018-19 the prestigious Best College Award was given to the college by the SRTM University.

The college has always encouraged research and quality enhancement of the faculties and students and actively involved in various research activities across multiple disciplines. The college has a dedicated Research Committee that oversees and promotes research initiatives. Here are some highlights:

  1. Research Publications: Faculty members regularly publish their research in reputed Peer Reviewed, UGC Care Listed and Scopus Indexed journals (total of 378 Research articles) published so far by the faculties.
  2. Books Publications: Faculty members regularly publish their books, edited books, and chapters in edited books via various international and national publishers total of 71 books, 87 edited books and 152 chapters in edited books were contributed so far.
  3. Research Grants: The college has received grants to support research projects, enabling faculty and students to undertake significant research work.
  4. Patents: The college is actively involved in promoting intellectual property rights (IPR) and patent filing. The college has organized workshops and seminars in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) to educate students and faculty about the process of patent and design filing. These workshops aim to enhance awareness and understanding of IPR among the academic community, providing valuable insights into the procedures and benefits of securing patents. Outcomes of this workshops faculty filled and granted 03 Patents Design in the years 2023-24.
  5. Collaborations and MOUs: The college has established 03 International, 09 National and 07 Local collaborations with other institutions and industries to enhance research opportunities and resources.
  6. Research Events: Various seminars, workshops, and conferences are organized to foster a research-oriented environment and keep the academic community updated with the latest developments.

The Science Club: An Ecofriendly club of Undergraduate Students at Digambarrao Bindu College in Bhokar was founded in 2015 by Dr. Arvind Chavhan Head Department of Zoology. It aims to foster scientific interest and skills among students by organizing various activities such as: Seminars and Workshops, Science Exhibitions, Guest Lectures by Eminent Scientists, Environmental Awareness Programs, Wildlife Week Celebrations, Plantation Drives and Conservation Activities VrukshRaksha Bandhan, Science Scholar Competition, National Science Day Celebration, etc. The club provides a platform for students to explore their scientific curiosity, develop research skills, and engage in activities that promote a clean and healthy environment. It’s a great opportunity for students to interact with experts and enhance their knowledge and leadership skills.

The Country Wide Classroom Program (CWCP) at Digambarrao Bindu College in Bhokar is an innovative initiative by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). This program was introduced to address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that students could continue their education through online teaching and learning activities.

The CWCP includes:

  • ICT Classrooms: Equipped with modern technology to facilitate online learning.
  • YouTube Channel (DBC Media Center): Provides access to e-contents, recorded lectures, and technical sessions from various webinars and e-conferences.
  • Inflibnet e-library services: Offers students and faculty access to a wide range of knowledge resources available on the internet.

The “Career Katta” initiative at Digambarrao Bindu College, Bhokar, is designed to help students explore various career opportunities and prepare for their future. This program focuses on providing guidance and resources to students, helping them understand different career paths, and equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen fields. The Career Katta includes activities such as Career Counseling Sessions, Workshops and Seminars, Guest Lectures, Internship Opportunities, Skill Development Programs. This initiative is part of the college’s broader mission to make students aware of career opportunities and help them refine their personalities and skills

The college has 175 NSS Volunteer Enrolments, including 100 boys and 75 girls, offers students the opportunity to engage in various community service activities and programs. The primary aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience in delivering community service, fostering a sense of social responsibility among students. Volunteers participate in campus and community service activities, dedicating 240 hours over two years. This includes 40 hours for orientation, 60 hours for campus work, and 140 hours for community service. A seven-day camp is organized annually in an adopted village, focusing on various developmental issues and community service projects. The NSS department at Digambarrao Bindu College is dedicated to instilling values such as dignity of labor, self-dependence, patriotism, and social accountability in students.
