Chemistry

The Chemistry department of the college was established in the year 2011. It is one of the major department in the faculty of science. It is eleven years old. This department started with temporary faculty for three years Later on Mr. Sachin S. Tiwade appointed as Head & Assistant Professor (11 aug.2014) specialization in Organic Chemistry and Mr. Gajanan D. Kottapalle appointed as Assistant Professor (18 april.2015) has specialization in Organic Chemistry.  Now department has two permanent and one temporary faculty. The Department is fully equipped laboratory as PH meter, Potentiometer, Calorimeter, Conductometer, Refrigerator etc. with separate cabin and store room for chemicals. Many students completed their degree and admitted for post graduation in chemistry. Alumni of this department have secured jobs in various pharmaceutical industries. One of the faculties Mr. Kottapalle G.D. of the department is awarded by doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in November 2021 while other Mr. Tiwade S.S. is persuing his Ph.D. The faculty members are actively involved in research activity and publications in reputed international and national journals.

Chemistry is the study of atoms, molecules and materials – their properties, composition and reactions, and how chemical processes work in industrial contexts and in the environment around us. Chemistry has traditionally been divided into organic (organic compounds – containing carbon and hydrogen) and inorganic chemistry (chemistry that is not related to organic molecules).

The Department of Chemistry at offers both theoretical and practical disciplines. Chemistry is basic in the studies of medicine, biology and technology. It is the center of many sciences providing the fundamental knowledge and tools needed to address many of societies needs and to explore the unknown fields as diverse as the genetic engineering and nanotechnology look to chemistry when they look to the future, for that is where the ultimate in understanding- The molecular level- resides. Chemistry plays an integral role in today’s scientific endeavours. In this new and inspiring era chemistry has gained enormous heights, glorified with its immense contribution in medicine, biology, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, material science etc.
